cathy, without a plan...

About Me

I started blogging when I moved from California to Kentucky – bit of a culture shock there, I’m afraid – and was having a mid-life crisis of sorts. What to do? Build a life of family, home and volunteering? Try to re-enter the job market? I thought that writing about things, something I’ve always liked to do, would help me sort it all out; help me out of my life as a recluse. “Cathy without a plan” was born. But I got sidetracked. I couldn’t resist commenting on the news, on books I’ve read, people I’ve observed, life’s absurdities, and all manner of other things. I really haven’t been doing much ‘planning’ at all. Oh well. And in the meantime, I moved again – back to the west coast – and now have a whole new set of adventures that are surely interfering with serious planning. So I'm unsettled, indecisive and wishy-washy about what I should do ‘next'... which seems to suit me after all. I used to be one of life’s great planners. But now here I am, happily, "Cathy without a plan."

Quite the array of jack-o-lanterns as usual! Do yo guys use some kind of pattern or just come up with those designs on your own? Are the pumpkins home grown this year?
Not home grown, alas. We were too late trying to get that started and then couldn't find any seed. But we do use patterns and all the right tools - little pokers to get the pattern transfered to the pumpkin and thin little saws rather than knives. (We just aren't that artistically talented!)
