Beautiful Portland

We were in Portland over the weekend - a beautiful city in a beautiful state. The weather, miraculously, was perfect; the skies clear. Mt Hood, usually as elusive as our own Mt Rainier, was strutting its stuff for all to see, and the Rose Garden was (almost) in full bloom.

We had a chance to hike in Silver Falls, an old haunt of ours from way back - and it didn't disappoint. The trail takes you behind several of the falls (compare the next two pictures; that's Todd and Laura in the middle of the second picture - same waterfall) and through some beautiful forest.

Isn't the world wonderful?

Wow, I have to see that some day. I love waterfalls. I've been to Yosemite, which is great, but the most beautiful I've seen so far are the ones in Havasu Canyon. Those look like they might be able to move to the top. They don't have the bright blue water but the lush greenery is incredible.

I think that big hulking thing in the last picture must be bigfoot. Looks like a hairy ape but walks upright, well sort of. Misshapen sort of beast, large torso. Definitely a bigfoot and you captured it on film what are the odds of that?
